Zaina, Me, Stacy, Anetka
Today was the third Yoga/Hike at Poo Poo Point in Issaquah, Washington. Of course we live in rainy Seattle and seems like there is always an excuse not to get out in the open air. Last week was pretty intense with a hail storm that hit at exactly 11AM. Sadly, we had to cancel the yoga/hike. It’s not what I wanted to do but I knew it could have actually gotten dangerous.
This week the weather forecast said there would be rain on Sunday, the day planned for the hike. I never really know what to believe with these crazy bi-polar weather conditions here in Seattle since we can have 4 seasons in one day. I kept the date open for the hike to see what the weather had in store for us. There were about 30 people who said they were coming and were excited to attend! Mostly new people. Early in the morning I did my daily 30 minute yoga/workout outside and it felt really nice with just a few droplets that hit my face and the smell and feel in the air of the rain the night before.
As the day kept on hour by hour the weather changed from sun to rain, sun to rain. As I got e-mail, after text, after call about not coming because of the weather I was even more excited to get out there! In times that seem to look like a downfall or a failure is when I’ve learned that you don’t give up but it means something great is going to happen when you persevere!
So guess what, rain or shine 6 of us met at the mountain! And here are some pictures to show of the amazing day!
At the top of Poo Poo Point! We made it!! Such as great time going up the trail to get to know each other and enjoy great conversation. As well as a killer incline workout.
Here is Ryan. A rock climber and outdoorsy guy. Completely New to Yoga but ready to learn.
Fuzzy here, He thought he was just going to hike up with us and watch, little did he know with Stacy bringing him an extra mat that he would give in. =)
Today I asked a question that each one of us focused on throughout the session. ” What is the ONE Health Focus for you?”
Are you not where you need to be physically, are you mentally drained, emotionally unstable, spiritually searching, or do you have relationships/friendships that are toxic-bringing you down instead of lifting you up to bring out a better you and get you to where you need to be in life?
The boys had no idea what they were getting into. Today I mixed it up with a bit of everything. Breathing from the diaphragm. Strength and balancing poses, and even how to get into crow pose (an arm balance) Much like one in break dancing! These guys got it! We kept warm through the workout even though it was cold outside.
It was awesome to see where everyone was working at their own pace and getting into asanas (poses) they never thought they could.
Gorgeous ladies on the inside and out!
At the end of our yoga session is when we experienced the downpour! How fun and exhilarating!
We danced, jumped and did some dancer poses in the pouring rain! How refreshing and cleansing!
Fuzzy, so happy you came!
Yeah, we are a bunch of sillies =)
In the car, safe and sound with Zaina, all wet but feeling incredible!
Thank you to each one of you for being here on the hike. I couldn’t have asked for a better group. You all keep me motivated, strong and determined myself! Today all the donations go to the sex-trafficked women in Cambodia!
This year some of us will be going to Cambodia and Thailand to teach these women (or young girls)how to become Hair Dressers! How to have sustainability through a creative art! They too can become free from slavery and now have the confidence and the HOPE and LOVE that they have never ever known they could.
SHOCKING: Girls from ages 4 are being sold, recruited, stolen, drugged and placed into brothels. Girls that have been rescued most of the time end up going back to the brothels due to drugs, trauma, its what they know, and their lack of skills to earn a living.
There is HOPE and RESTORATION so thank you for your donations to bring freedom. You are so much apart of bringing this HOPE!
If you would like to donate in any way here is the link to the paypal account!
